How to increase the mileage of your car
The current average price of fuel has increased by over 40% in the recent past. A few small changes done to your car can increase the mileage by up to 20%.
Check your tire pressure every three days. Low tire pressures makes your car work harder. (But don't overinflate!) Every car manufacturer recommends the optimum tire pressure for the front and rear tires.
Get yourself a gauge available in any car parts store. Right pressure in tires help the car to avoid the drag effect and make engine run smoother, faster and above all cheaper on gas.
You could consider changing your car's spark plugs to Platinum tipped ones. These save enormous amounts of gas especially if you are cruising around 60 miles per hour.
Slow down. Going even 5 miles an hour slower lowers gas consumption. Accelerate Slowly. A slow, steady acceleration uses less gas than a quick speed jump. Get into the habit of driving at a steady speed and avoiding sudden acceleration and sudden brakes. It is better for the car, brakes, engine and above all gas usage.
Another good habit is to shut your engine down when you must idle in red lights etc.
Skip the AC. Your air conditioner uses lots of juice. Consider simply recycling the air within your car without the added A/C boost.
Check and change the air filter of my car. If you have not changed your air filter in the last 30,000 miles, you will save big by this new air filter alone.
Try to park your car in shades. That allows car to stay cooler. When you start my car, cool air allows you to keep windows shut. Driving with the windows shut can also increase the car mileage.
Finally, try and avoid local roads and congested areas. You could also change your schedule somewhat to make sure you am not in jammed traffic times.
